Terms of Use
1. Who we are
Vergent is provided by Oppimaa Oy, Business ID 2427713-5, Mikonkatu 25 A, 00100 Helsinki, Finland (“we”). You can reach us at support@vergentapp.dev.
2. What Vergent is
Vergent is an online training and practice service for professionals who work with neurodivergent children and young people, for example in early childhood education, schools and therapy. It contains learning material (Neurodivergence basics), assessment forms for practising ICF-based assessment and the child's self-assessment, AI tools for planning everyday situations (Skill Coach, Stepper, Mediation and Transitions) and the Skills Passport.
Vergent is a tool for learning and for supporting your own professional work. It does not diagnose, treat or make decisions about a child, and it is not a medical device. You remain responsible for your professional judgement and for how you use what you create.
Vergent is training material, not a record-keeping system. The forms and the AI tools are there for you to practise on: try them with imagined or general situations that are useful in your work, and learn the strategies. You are not expected to enter anything about a particular child, and the fields are written to be filled in generally — the age is always a band (0–2, 3–5, 6–12, 13–17), and the tools ask about a type of situation, not about a person.
A certificate of completion is earned by answering at least 80 % of the questions correctly in every theme of Neurodivergence basics and by writing an approved report on each of the seven tools, using an imagined child. Our team assesses the reports with the help of AI, and a person reads every report that needs revising. The certificate is a certificate of completion: it is not a degree or an official qualification, and we do not award study credits ourselves.
3. Account and access
- Your account is created when you buy access. You create your password on the page after paying or with the link we email you.
- Access lasts 12 months from the payment. If you buy again with the same email before your access ends, the new 12 months continue from the end of the current period. Access does not renew automatically.
- An account is for one person. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
4. Price and payment
- The price, including VAT, is shown before you pay. You can pay once or in three equal payments 24 days apart (today, after 24 days and after 48 days), with no interest or fees. Your 12-month access starts on the first payment.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
- If a later payment cannot be taken after Stripe's retries, your access is paused until that payment is made. You can pay it in Vergent after signing in.
5. AI credits
- Your access includes AI use every calendar month it covers. Unused monthly credits do not carry over to the next month.
- You can buy extra AI credits. They are used after the month's credits and are valid until your access ends.
- Vergent shows how much of your credits is left and roughly how many assessments or tool uses they are enough for. The actual use depends on the length of the texts.
6. Money back and withdrawal
You can get your money back within 14 days of buying: email support@vergentapp.dev and we refund the full amount you paid, without asking for a reason. The refund ends your access and any remaining payments. If you bought extra AI credits, the unused part is refunded on request within 14 days in the same way.
This also covers your statutory right of withdrawal as a consumer: you may withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of the contract without giving a reason, by telling us so by email. We refund the payment within 14 days of receiving your notice, using the same payment method.

7. Using Vergent
By accepting these terms you agree to the following. They exist because Vergent is a training service: the value is in learning the method, and nothing about a real child needs to enter it.
- Write generally, never about an identified child. Do not enter a name, a date of birth, an address, a school or daycare name, or any other detail that would identify a child or a family. Describe the type of situation you want advice on.
- Assessment forms and AI tools. These are for practising the method: use an imagined child, or describe the situation so that no one can be recognised. If you assess a real child at your workplace, do it on your employer's own forms (section 9).
- Self-assessment and Skills Passport. These are meant to be used with a child, and they work entirely in your browser: nothing entered in them is sent to us, and their PDFs are created on your device. If you dictate into a field, your browser sends the audio to its maker (see the Privacy Policy).
- Our server runs an automatic filter that removes the names and identifiers it recognises before any text is sent to the AI. The filter cannot catch everything, which is why the rules above are yours to follow.
- Do not use Vergent unlawfully, to harm others, to disturb the service, or with automated tools, and do not copy, resell or share access to it.
8. AI-generated content
The AI tools use a language model provided by SpaceXAI (Grok). The model does not answer freely: for each request it is given a set of strategy cards drawn from our interviews with practitioners and specialists, and it builds its answer from those. The text you read is nevertheless written by the model, and Vergent marks it as such.
What you get back is a suggestion, not an instruction. It can be incomplete, wrong or unsuitable for the situation you had in mind. You decide what fits your work, and you adapt it before using it. The tools do not replace a diagnosis or an assessment made by a professional.
9. Using what you learn at work
Once you have practised the method, you can use it in your own work. If you assess a real child's functioning at your workplace, do it on your employer's own forms — for example an ICF form on paper, following the World Health Organization's classification — and store the result as your employer's data protection rules require. In that work you are acting for your employer, who is the controller of that information; Vergent is not involved in it and receives none of it.
You are responsible for your professional judgement, for the decisions you make about a child and for following the rules of your workplace and your profession.
10. Rights
Vergent's content, software and design belong to Oppimaa Oy or its licensors. You may use the documents and PDFs you create with Vergent in your own work.
The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) © World Health Organization, used under the CC BY-ND 3.0 IGO licence. Vergent is independent and not endorsed by WHO. The short everyday names of the items in Vergent's area assessments are Vergent's own plain-language wording and are not part of the ICF.
11. Availability and liability
We aim to keep Vergent available and working, but we cannot promise that it is always free of interruptions or errors. We are not liable for indirect damage. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid for Vergent in the last 12 months. These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, and they do not limit your rights as a consumer.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. We tell you about significant changes by email or in Vergent at least 14 days before they take effect. Changes do not affect access you have already paid for to your disadvantage.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Finnish law. If we cannot agree on something, you can contact the Finnish Consumer Advisory Services and take the matter to the Consumer Disputes Board, or to the consumer authority or court of your own country of residence as the law allows.
These terms are published in English and in the other languages of Vergent. All language versions are equally valid, and we keep their content the same.
